A truly powerful and moving film

I just finished watching 'The Big Blue--directors cut' and I am really glad that I did. I honestly feel that it has influenced me on a deeper level, in a way that almost no other film has. I now own the DVD and I plan to watch it at least several more times in the next year or so. I want you to understand this:--this movie is meant to have a profound spiritual and existential theme to it. It is for this reason that I was very moved and inspired by it. If you are intrested in watching a wonderful yet simple movie, with great cinematography and great acting and writing (in my opinion), and a film which has a subtle, yet very profound spiritual and existential theme to it, then I highly recommend watching 'The Big Blue--directors cut'. On a personal note, I really identified with the main character Jacque. Thankyou for your time....-N

The movie of a generation...a trip to heaven

In Europe we consider this movie " the movie of a generation"...when it came out, it stayed in theater something like 4 or 5 month !! And it came out a second time with a longer version. In both versions we always had the same ending...so I'm pretty much disappointed (but not surprised) to read that in US you had a kind of "happy ending".
Anyway, the music scored by Eric Serra, the man who did the soundtrack from every Besson movies by the way, is magnificent. This movie ranks in my top five, the best french movie in my opinion. To see this movie in a theater is one of the most beautiful experience...!
If you like Luc Besson, there's actually two movies you MUST get : "SUBWAY" and "NIKITA" (not the one with Bridget Fonda...but with Anne Parrillaud).

Dream of ocean

The Big Blue is a movie about dream of ocean. This movie and Atlantis both are my favorite movies.

Big Blue

A true masterpiece. I viewed the cut down version movie years ago, and was thrilled with this longer version, it is almost a new film with all the extra scenes. The DVD will work on multizone players, I stay in South Africa and thought it would not work with the new coding and c**p that the Americans are now introducing, a real paranoid bunch they are, but it played fine.
