Awe-inspiring, do buy!

This book is destined to be a classic, not only among astrologers, but philosophers, historians and students of culture as well. You'll need to put on your thinking cap to glean the most from it, and expect to spend plenty of time savoring its insights (not a quick read), yet it's time well spent. The book actually helped me in an unexpected way. Because the author, Richard Tarnas, tends to use the word "multivalent" a lot, when that word showed up on my GRE exam, I knew what it meant :-). On a more serious note, this book is an inspiring work of art and intellectual tour de force that provides wonderfully catalyzing ideas for every thinking person's mind. Tarnas has resurrected important ideas about the evolution of culture and human destiny that have long been absent from universities. Once these ideas are restored, the intelligentsia will be saying they knew it all along. I believe 100, 200 years or more from now, people will be saying "this was the book that started it all."

From the Best to 'Hmmmm...'

Richard Tarnas wrote The Passion of the Western Mind. I have read it four times now, and believe it to be one of the world's finest contributions to the history of mankind(western).
So, I purchased Cosmos even before it hit the streets. I'm sorry Richard, but I do not feel the same way about this one. For those of you who want to accept finite influence of the solar planets over yours and mankinds behavior and karma, then this book is for you. Very well portrayed and well written, except for a rather esoteric selection of words.
