Great product. Speech-to-text that really works.

Installed product, trained for 5 minutes and wrote a book. Great result. Improved over previous versions in many ways. This is speech recognition that works.

Great productivity help -- big resource demands

It's been a great productivity aid for me in translation work, but has also forced some changes in the way I work. Mostly it uses a lot of system resources to do a reasonable job of recognition. That put a damper on my normal mode of operation (having multiple 500+ page word documents open for reference on two large monitors, etc.). When I added NaturallySpeaking, I started to experience several freezes per day that would require application restart and reactivation of the NS Add-in for word, and then another application restart.

However, with that said, NS has been a great aid in productivity. The vocabulary editing tools are simple and powerful. I converted my reference docs to PDF and search them there. That solved the application conflict/resource competition, and things are running well now.

So, I'd rate this 5-stars but will hold one in reserve while waiting for for NS to add some more robust application conflict resolution / self-recovery processes.

Great Product!

I haven't personally used this product but have ordered 3 copies so far for both of my bosses. One of them liked it so much he just HAD to have this at his home as well. For the first two weeks he used it he walked around the office calling himself "The Dragon". He is very pleased with it and happy he can now write more than a one sentence email and also include punctuation! Highly recommended for those who have a hard time typing.

I was excited to recieve the product however, even though it stated that it works with Windows Vista it does not if your computer is a 64 bit computer. If the program works it works very well but you may sometimes have to reset the speaking mode. It is though a program worth having once you work out all the bugs.

improved voice recognition from 9, still buggy, worse tutorial, false advertising

The voice recognition does appear to be better than 9.0. I enjoy the program, and it's probably the best voice recognition program available (not much competition). I recommend it to people, but still the developers ought to correct some basic issues that remain.

Especially when dictating in web browsers, e.g. emails, the program often bugs and corrects a slightly offset group of characters than what you select, so when it pastes your corrected text, you have to edit it manually.

sometimes, not infrequently, it doesn't respond to your voice for at least 10 seconds, then when you think it didn't hear you and may even have changed windows that you're using, it all of a sudden starts transcribing what you said. My computer is fairly fast w/ Intel Core 2 CPU 2.13 GHz and 2 GB RAM, and there I'm not necessarily using many programs when it happens.

Also, briefly had a Spanish-accented friend try the new feature that supposedly understands Spanish accents, and although they didn't train it or give it much of a chance, at first glance it didn't seem like the recognition was very good.

Version 9.0 had good instructions for use, but 10.0 had poor to none describing the changes. Also, I'm pretty sure I read from their publicity that one addition in 10.0 is that after editing a word, it takes you back to where the cursor was before editing - however this is not the case.

Overall I like the program, but there are some limitations probably due somewhat to the large system resources needed for it to work but definitely also due to correctable errors that were not addressed since the prior version.
