Between four and five stars...

I went with five stars because I think people will be pleasantly surprised and it's worth checking out.

Paul Rudd loses his wife (Eva Longoria) on their wedding day. He's depressed and can't get over it, and a psychic (Lake Bell) tries to make him feel better by pretending to talk to his wife and telling him she wants her to move on. Eva tries to scare Lake away, thinking she's protecting her... but it's probably more that she's jealous.

It actually reminded me a lot of Meet The Parents. Someone's trying to keep two people apart who are meant for each other, and those two fighting are really funny. There were a lot of scenes that had the theater laughing: Paul and Lake trying to have sex while Eva's ghost is driving Lake crazy, a chase to an airport that was actually a new take on it, an exorcism where Lake's trying to get rid of Eva... And a lot of funny slapsticky animal scenes.

All the other characters had funny stories: Paul's sister (Lindsey Sloane) was really funny with Jason Biggs (from American Pie), plus all the other tiny little parts of people they ran into were hilarious. There's a really funny scene at the end with a guy from Arrested development and a hundred other shows you've seen.

It's just really funny all the way through. And the ending is actually touching, which you wouldn't expect from this kind of movie.

laugh out loud!!!

I saw this movie in the theater and wasn't expecting much with the review I read. The whole theater was laughing throughout the whole movie - especially the scene with the parrot (don't want to spoil it).

To me, it wasn't really a romantic comedy, it was a comedy. Maybe that's why some people were disappointed. it was sweet and had some nice relationship stuff, but it's not like you thought Paul Rudd was going to end up with the ghost. It was just a romp that was filled with funny dialogue and funny physical comedy.

I told all my friends about it. If you missed it (and it was easy to!) check it out.

Just Won't Let Go!

Kate was dominating and had a good thing which she lost but she just would not give up. Kate was as vicious as Ligeia in a similar situation written by Poe. At the college performance, Blithe was the color green (for death), most effective. Kate was also a color but not the white we'd expect of a ghost, for a dead entity, she had a healthy glow.

Engaging, somewhat cliched romantic comedy

This film has a good premise to generate comedic material - as Kate (Eva Longoria is about to marry her fiance (Paul Rudd) she is crushed to death by a falling ice angel sculpture... and she returns to haunt/harrass the psychic who begins to fall into a romance with him. Add to that the gay? catering business partner of the psychic medium (played by Jason Biggs) and there's a number of pretty funny scenes and plot twists. Although the plot seemed clever, Eva Longoria's character seemed to weaken the film - she seemed rather one-dimensional and stuck on auto-pilot in that role. The remainder of the cast seemed to get into their characters pretty well and the film was well-paced and fun... I personally like supernatural elements in films and this one has that as key to its premise... there's a particularly funny scene where the medium goes to a Catholic priest to ask for help in "getting rid of" the ghost and another scene where the ghost puts on a threatening, demonic pose a la The Exorcist to attempt to scare the medium away from the surviving fiance. If you like a somewhat cliched but still clever romantic ghost comedy you'll likely want to see this film.
