I bought my grill used and it is cleaner than I've seen it since. This grill cleaner works better than anything I've tried. The grate is shiny and clean with minimal effort. I am going through the scrubbers faster than I expected, but it seems to have slowed down now that I've gotten off all the caked on crud that my wire brushes were leaving behind. And you can flip the scubbers over to use both sides. I've used it on a cold and hot grill and it was excellent on both. I would buy this again no question. Consumer Reports was right when they gave this an excellent rating.

As Good as Everybody Says It Is

This thing just works, and it's simple. My Weber 18 1/2-Inch Charcoal Grill maintains a nice clean grate, and food doesn't stick.

Make sure the grate is fully hot before you use the brush. Give a reasonable amount of pressure down on it as you rub - and swipe away. It usually works in a couple of swipes back and forth.

I keep an old dish towel at hand, which I've rolled up tightly into a log and tied with (cotton!!!) Butchers String somewhat like tying a roast. I keep that a bit wet with vegetable oil. Then, after I get done with the Grill Wizard, I just grab the towel with grill tongs and rub down the grate, and grill away. (If one is fussy I suppose one could recreate that log with a clean towel each time -- I just toss the thing into a big zipper bag and keep it in my grill-stuff box, figuring that 800 degree heat will kill pretty much anything. :-) Your mileage may vary.)

My grill hasn't been this clean in years!

I use my grill fairly often and go through wire brushes at a pretty fast pace. The bristles on a typical wire brush always seem to wear down and/or get filled with grease/soot. And, it's probably my technique, but the grill doesn't end up looking spotless- just fairly clean.

The grill wizard did the job quickly and very well.

The grill wizard is very easy to set up. You are given a metal scouring pad that you insert into two metal rods on one end of the rubber handle. The rods are then squeezed into their slots and you are left with about a 2-3 foot handle with the scouring pad on one end.

Pretty simple, no? In this case, simple works wonders. The scouring pad cut through the grime and grease on my large grease fairly easily. I used a cleaner spray, but I don't know if this was necessary.

With one pad, I was able to clean three grates front and back on my grill and two grates from my smoker in approximately ten to fifteen minutes. It took a little bit of elbow grease, but the end product was worth it- the grates look completely free of grime.

Towards the end, the pad became filled with grime and I turned it over to the other side and it continued working well. I probably could have rinsed it out as well.

I would definitely recommend this grill wizard to anyone- but you might be able to save money on the refills by buying the scouring pads separately- they seem to be a standard size.
