THE BRAVE ONE

I loved this movie, it was rivetting and blew me away. I have never admired Jodie Foster more as an actress as I have in this movie. I would watch it again in a heartbeat.

This is a very realistic look at life. Very well cast. Honorable mention to Naveen Andrews, Jodi Foster & Terrance Howard.

A lot better than expected!

I thought that this would be another Death Wish rehash but it was actually a lot better than I thought. Jodie Foster is a radio personality who is about to be married. Her fiance is murdered by some hoodlums and Foster left for dead. When she recovers in the hospital she seems to be possessed by a dark force seeking out revenge against all violent evil-doers. Some scenes are similar to Death Wish and Bernard Goetz. And like Charles Bronson in Death Wish she is being persued by New York Detective. At first he doesn't suspect Foster but she seems to be at the scene of some of the crimes, using her radio personna as a cover. He seems to be the opposite of Foster as he is usually powerless to act against evil-doers because the law ties his hands while Foster just blows the evil-doers away without a qualm.

it had me until the ending

if you like jodie foster and vigilante flicks you'll like this movie. terence howard is always thrilling to watch and he delivers in the brave one. i won't spoil it by giving away any details but the ending just didn't match the uncertainty and intensity of the rest of the film.
