Great Software
After all the negative reviews of the product, I kept putting off the purchase and kept looking for alternatives. On one computer I even upgraded to the Vista Ultimate
version
, since it has some basic drive imaging software built in (not that great of a deal). I have used the
old
PowerQuest Drive
Image
programs from Version 1 until the company was purchased by Symantec several years ago. Now that was a great program! I then tried Norton Ghost for several versions to current one, and it's okay, but 'buggy', sometimes recognizing the image as valid and sometimes not.
What I also like about this product is the ability to backup only certain directories and archive them, like my Music Files, or Busines files rather than backing up a whole partition. With Windows Vista or with Windows Live One Care, you don't have control over "directory" backups, but rather "file types" (.docx, .jpeg, .xls and such). WinXP allowed you to backup up exactly what you wanted. This
True
Image program allows you to also image just a directory and also split the backup so you can copy to DVDs to store.
I played with this program on several computers with the trial download and had NO problems in installation, buggy hangs and such. Also for $32.99, (I just noticed the price is down to $29.99) this was a great deal. You don't get that price for Norton Ghost, even with upgrade pricing. Norton Ghost also loads in a lot of services on startup that take up system resources, and also, since I have gone back to Windows Live One Care, the WLOC, doesn't like to install if there are other Symantec products installed (like Ghost). That program tries to uninstall Norton products.
I highly recommend this Disk imaging program. I have not had to contact customer support (and hopefully won't from the sound of other reviewers), but then I rarely have problems and needs to contact support with other software as well (well, except for Live One Care).
I restored the image from the backup without any problems, just to test the process. This program is slower than Ghost or my old Drive Image by PowerQuest, but not an inconvenience.

Performed as Advertised - Already Saved Me
I am an experienced user but not at imaging a drive. It still took me a few tries to get it.
Acronis
has received great reviews and this product performed as advertised. I am pleased.
This product has already saved me hours on a Vista reinstall (had to reset a new HP to factory)! I'll continue to do baseline
image
s (to step abk to) when I reach stable points as I install software & personalize setings.
Easy as Pie
The program installs easily, and scheduling backups was as easy as following the on-screen directions. As usual with
Acronis
though, a Secure Zone cannot be created on an external (USB) drive, so all the advantages of a Secure Zone are lost with this installation. I haven't had to restore from
version
11, but have from version 9, and that was wonderful (or better).
