This is a great product and now we have herbs and peppers all year, without having them eaten by birds.

Great product but some kits are better than others

I've tried several different seed kits and find that the Romaine is by far the best for salads. It grows quickly, produces a lot and keeps going for months. The Mixed Salad Greens kit grows pretty well but it yields less and is more limp and leggy than the Romaine. The Mescalun mix grows well, but it's got some awfully bitter and spicy varieties mixed in....an aquired taste. Don't bother with the Baby Greens kit. Mine sprouted quickly then withered up and died within a week. Big flop. I'll stick with Romaine.

Overall I'm very happy with my aerogarden. One nice side benefit is that the garden lights up my otherwise dark kitchen counter. Also, their customer service line is very friendly and helpful.

Basil explosion

My gourmet herb kit came with basil, mint, chives, dill, thyme, and parsley, but I refer to it simply as my basil garden. The dill sprouted late, grew one anemic stalk, and then keeled over dead. The mint likewise made a meager appearance before turning brown. The thyme and chives were small but enjoyable, and I had given up on the parsley before it finally flourished and seasoned a few meals.

But OH MY GOD DO I HAVE BASIL! I've trimmed it aggressively many times, only to have it return bigger and bushier and beating out the other herbs for light. I celebrated the fresh basil for a while, but now I stuff it unceremoniously into ziplocs and store it in the freezer until one day when it will all become pesto.

Judging from mine and other reviewers' experiences, the aerogarden produces imperfect and unpredictable results -- but it has been fun to have fresh, growing herbs within my lightless apartment even if the outcome was not as planned. I look forward to trying other seed kits.

Hydroponic garden

The herb garden does bloom but the blooms were sparse not like the video at the web site. The parlsey never bloomed
