It Really Works!

I was a bit apprehensive when I bought 2 of these off of clearance (when Sharper Image had them for $39.95 through Amazon). I had been looking at a Mosquito Magnet for about $300 when I figured these were worth a try. I installed both in my backyard (about .25 acres) and turned them on, so no problem with installation and set-up. The key is to have a covered, darkish location to set them up.

I started them in the beginning of May and cleaned them about 2-3 weeks later and pulled a baseball sized lump of dead mosquitoes out of one, and a golf sized lump out of the other! My wife and I didn't realize how many mosquitoes were out, even this early in the season! It's been great to go outside without slathering myself or the kids with bug repellant.

The best of all is the low cost of use. The bulbs last 4 months (according to the man'f) and have a $10 replacement cost... even running it 24/7, the unit takes about 20W of electricity an hour... maybe a $5 addition to my electric bill a month. Compared to the Mosquito Magnet which uses a tank of propane every 3 weeks and needs 2 different types of lures (and also uses a few bucks in electricity a month), the month costs are a ton less with the DynaTrap.

My only complaint (still not enough to knock this down to a 4) is that there are a few live bugs to deal with when cleaning out the unit. Usually these bugs are so out of it though, they aren't eager to bite you! Overall, a great product!

Seems pretty good

I honestly haven't had a chance to use it consistently, but every time I do remember to turn it on there seem to be at least a few bugs in it. I'm not sure if they are really drawn to it, or if it's random. But either way, those bugs have been caught!

The only working issue is that when it's still pretty light outside (or I have my exterior lights on), it seems to attract the bugs less. My other problem is that it's not supposed to get too wet and I don't want to bring it inside everytime it's going to rain, so I had to find a somewhat protected spot to store it outside.

Review on DynaTrap Flying Insect Eliminator

It looks fine, haven't used it yet but hoping it will take care of the insects in the 20 square feet area like it claims!

A design flaw

The maker expects you to turn this on 24/7 cos' there's nothing to stop the trapped insects from crawling back out. Fortunately, a simple sports use elastic headband (addidas is thicker) will solve 90% of the bugs from crawling back out. But still, how could they not think of this before?

Other than this, the unit works very well.

not bad for the price

I saw this item in several magazines for about $119 t0 $140. It was easy to set up and it is a lot quieter then my old bug zapper. I have a stream that runs through my back yard. I get a lot bugs during the summer. I have had running for about two weeks now. The large container is about half full. I don't see myself emptying it out ever other day. It is very easy to clean.
Over all the price is good and it is a well built unit. The unit is easy to care for and works well. It also consumes less electricity than a regular bug zapper.
