Without this memory card there is no fun. When you're playing a game for a few hours and get really far you will definitely wanna save it. Without the memory card you will have to do everything all over again. With the memory card you can save up and continue playing later.

Necessity

Anyone witha PS2 has one. It's that simple. It's not exactly great because because it's annoying in the first place that the feature of memory wasnt on the PS2 in the first place.

Great memory card, highly overpriced

This memory card holds enough game files for any gamer to use but it is way overpriced. I didn't have to worry about this because mine came with my PS2. It can hold about 40 files, thats about 1 file for each game. If you have over 40 games, like me, you should consider getting the value pack that comes with 2 memory cards. If you buy two of the black ones, it will be very expensive and you will get the two memory cards confused. The value pack is a pretty good deal and you get a red and a blue memory card so its less confusng.

Overpriced but ESSENTIAL!

If you don`t like the price of a PS2 memory card,you should get an XBOX instead as XBOX console have built-in harddrives so they don`t need memory cards/memory units.
Unless you can beat a game in one session of play on PS2,its reccomended that you own a memory card.You could just pause the game and switch the TV off and leave the PS2 on,but you will be thrown a handful of risks including your PS2 burning out,or maybe even a FIRE!
I know the PS3 will have a harddrive but I`m hoping its harddrive can be used to save games so I will never have to buy a memory unit,I don`t think XBOX 360`s hard-drive can save games but I know XBOX`s can.
PS2 memory cards are overpriced,But you could go on eBay and buy a cheap one or buy one used,Plus MagicGate mems can get corrupted,but I remember turning of my PS2 while saving some WWE SmackDown! HCTP data,and when I went on it again,I checked my HCTP file,it was corrupted so I immediately deleted it,and everything was fine,I was able to save HCTP files again with no trouble.
But i`ve heard other PS2 memory cards that get corrupted and then it spreads and you can never save on it ever again.
PS2 MagicGate cards can only save up to 8MB(MegaBytes,although I used to believe it was MemoryBlocks).But its not a problem for me as I delete any files if I no longer play the game.
