Great story

I felt like the elephant was almost a person. I really enjoyed reading this book.

A truly gripping, terrific read.

Wow. This book was just spectacular. I tore through it (it grabbed me and would not let go). How many books do you see a fifteen-year-old (my niece) reading while walking up stairs? She could not stop reading it to climb the stairs! It was an amazing ride. I cannot imagine that ANYONE would not love this book.

I read two of Sara Gruen's earlier books and this is in a different category - a tour de force, an absolute must-read. What a lovely book. You end up feeling grateful to her for writing it just so you could read it. I cannot say enough about how great this book was - an enthralling story, enthrallingly told, absolutely marvelous.

....a truly, can't put it down book!!!

As much as I enjoy reading, I am not one of those who feel that I must
share my books with others...except in rare cases. I loaned my copy to friends and family, and then decided to buy the book as gifts. The first one went to a grand nephew who is starting college and pursuing his dream.
Unlike the young man in the story who could not follow his heart, my grand nephew is able to continue his love of art.
There is so much in this novel that captures the imagination and touches reality and includes a love of animals that came together to keep me reading until I finished...one wonderful weekend. One of those, can't put it down books!! It made me remember why I love to read!

GREAT READ

i NEEDED a good book and this was it - cried at the end - LOVED it

GREAT GUTSY WRITING

From the very first paragraph, this author grabs our attention, and awakens every sense...touch, smells, descriptions that have us see every nuance of the scene before us, as if we were standing next to the hero. Besides, she surprises us with unexpected descriptions that are raw, real and gutsy. For eg., I left there "stiff all over."
Wonderful reading, I need to go to bed earlier so I can read more of this wonderful book, before sleep o'ertakes me.
